Tonight's share is George Feyer's "Echoes of Christmas", the Decca mid-1960's release. George Feyer was a Hungarian pianist who released a series of "Echoes of..." albums on the Vox label in the 1950's. Decca picked up some of this series as re-releases in the 1960's, including this album.
"Echoes of Christmas" features Feyer's piano with minimal rhythmic accompaniment. The performances flow together seamlessly, so I have included each side of the album as a single track, rather than separate them and lose the continuity.
This is a very nice record, representative of a little different style of Christmas music.
Looks like there are some MP3 files from George Feyer available commercially, so I'll have to check into them and see if they are the same. They appear to be similar in some ways, but some song groupings seem different. Bottom line - if they end up being the same, I'll have to take the share down. So, get it while you can...
Back cover (added 2/27/16):
Please enjoy "Echoes of Christmas"
<had to remove this share - many of the tracks are available on iTunes>
Thanks I'll give it a spin
ReplyDeleteI used to share this out, but a member of Mr. Feyer's family politely asked me not to, so I took it down. Your mileage may vary. :)
ReplyDeleteGood to know - thanks Ernie.
ReplyDeleteok…can someone PLEASE clear something up for me…was this release an ep or a full-length?? If someone would be so kind as to provide a track listing in the correct running order, I would greatly appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteBoth sides are just over 18 minutes long. It's a 12" album, but somewhat short.
Deletedo you happen to have the track listing for both sides, Der Bingle? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSide 1: White Christmas, Sleigh Ride, Adeste Fideles, Skater's Waltz, Away in a Manger, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Jingle Bells
DeleteSide 2: O Tannenbaum, Deck the Hall, God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen, Winter Wonderland, Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, The First Noel, The Troika (from The Seasons), Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, Silent Night
